Old first ward location
580 South Park Ave.   •  Buffalo, NY 14204

As with many locations in Buffalo, our building has a storied history. From it’s origins as an early 20th century pharmacy and residence where home funerals occurred, to becoming a funeral home in the mid 1900’s, to the current resting place that is Undergrounds Coffee House & Roastery, bringing people together has always been a part of 580 South Park. In 1927 Frank Herko opened Herko Pharmacy, located in the front of the building, while he and his family resided upstairs. When you walk in the store from our Hamburg St. entrance, you will walk in on original flooring, that we were delighted to find under carpet that had been put down in later years. Finding this floor was instrumental in helping us set the tone for preservation and celebration of what had come before. In later years Usniaks turned the building into a funeral home, impacting the Old First Ward community by creating a place to gather to pay respects to love ones that had passed on.  Peter K Leslie carried on this tradition until 2015 when Undergrounds took over with a mission to breathe new life into the building while respecting what had come before. We love all of the little touches that were either part of the original building, or brought in to help us

pay homage to the lives that were celebrated here over the last century.  When you come in to enjoy our cafe,

we hope our fresh take on a long standing community gathering spot and passion for

continuing to provide meaningful impact in this building, will have you coming back again and again.

Seneca One Tower, located at 1 W. Seneca Street Buffalo, New York, was constructed between 1969-1974 and contains over 1,200,000 square feet of space. The building formerly known as One HSBC Center (1999-2013) and Marine Midland Center (1972-1999), spans the southern end of Main Street under which the Buffalo Metro Rail passes. Today, the 40-story building dominates Buffalo’s skyline standing at 529 feet high and is truly a sight to see.  In 2014, Douglas Development purchased the building and has completely redeveloped the tower, bringing it into the 21st century and beyond! Seneca One is Buffalo’s

tallest and most iconic building with 360-degree views across the city.

When we thought about a location for a second store, another building with a storied past, that was

being redeveloped for an exciting future felt like the perfect fit! Our Killer Kiosk is located on the ground floor of the West entrance just behind the M&T tech hub. Bringing our signature Underground’s flair to the

building was a fun challenge for us, and we hope that you’ll love the little touches in our design that

made us feel right at home. Come in grab a coffee and enjoy all Seneca One

and the area surrounding the tower has to offer.
